My computer has been infected with a lot of viruses and such and I don't know what to do. I am desperate enough that I am thinking about wiping the whole hard drive clean. I have an annoying pop up box that comes up every time I open the internet and it wants to install HPIZ423 and I press cancel and it does this 5-10 times before it goes away. Recently, my cdrom didn't work because it said no disk when there was a disk in there. Also, in the internet option I have a homepage set but it doesn't go there. Instead it goes to sysprotectionpage.net and it is really frustrating. What should I do?

Its better to format ur hardrive after taking ur backups. Avoid taking backups of exe(application) files coz they r affected with virus.

Then reinstall OS and have a good anti virus software like Mccafe or Norton's latest version

First of all install a good antivirus like norton 2005 & update it. then scan ur system and remove the viruses. then go to internet options in the control panel & disable pop-ups @ medium level risk. if this dosent work then format all the drives of the hard disc & reinstall the os and programmes

You need to contact a service professional in your area. Take the computer to them and get it checked out. Some will even come to your home. That is really the best thing to do and then get a virus program installed to prevent that. My old computer had a virus and some of the stuff was salvageable.

If you have the Yahoo tool bar, run the Anti-spy. It should be the target looking button next to the pop-up blocker. Then you should load up on the protection package (all free) : AVG (anti virus), ZoneAlarm (firewall), Ad-aware, Spybot se (anti-spy ware) and Spywareblaster (hosts file) and a stand alone Host file. Not much will get through them. They can all be found on any of the down load sites. Use Yahoo search to locate them.

Download, run, and send me a logfile from HijackThis. When you open up the program, choose scan and save logfile, open the logfile, copy and paste it into an email addressed to me. I'll have a look at it as soon as I get the chance.

If you go to yahoo, and type Ewidow in the search engine you should be able to download the program. My computer was really messed up like that and that's what I used! I hope that helps you!

Well, the fact you can post to Yahoo Answers is promising.. get a free virus checker (like AVG, google it) to solve your first problem, then get the microsoft spyware blocker (yeah, I know, an oxymoron)
