YOU CAN TAKE TOOTH PASTE AND SCRUB THE SCRATCH RIGHT OUT OF IT...YOU HAVE TO WORK AT IT FOR A WHILE BUT IT WILL COME OUT...YOU CAN DO THE SAME ON A MIRROR OR YOUR EYEGLASSES.....TRUST ME ON THIS ONE.....

Put on a pair of gloves for starters. Grab an SOS pad or sometype of Brillo pad. I use Soft Scrub on mine...but it may require the power. Apply and Scrub....It's kinda like cleaning my sink because it's white too and gets the pot and pan scratches in it all the time. A little elbow grease gets it out every time.

if the scratch is deep and damaged the porcelain you can buy a kit at lowes. the kit is located in the paint section. they have a little bottle of porcelain repair for chips and scratches its around 5 dollars.

Use a pumice stone, works great, what was the metal object, (out of curiosity) ?

Try a bit of Comet or Ajax cleanser. That should do it.
