fish have gills and any other animal that has gills has system that filters the air out of the water in order for them to breath, now whales on the other hand might drown in the water if they just decide they do not want to surface for air which I would imagine is possible so a fish can't drown but if it is out of the water for too long they can suffocate a whale maybe so it is possible that they have drowned in the water, but who would know about it unless someone did an autopsy of a dead whale?

None, they die due to other reasons like pollution.

not if they have gills(which they do).. but some get flushed down the tube.
