No, prenatal vitamins are just that...vitamins. It is just that some of the daily requirements in the prenatal vitamins vary from normal vitamins to allow for the pregnancy. The vitamins contain no hormones so they cannot give you symptoms of PMS or pregnancy and certainly cannot affect the results of a pregnancy test which all are based on hormones.

Prenatal vitamins help to assure you that your baby and you are getting the right nutrition. They help prevent the baby from having Spina Bifida ( when the spinal cord does not fuse/close normally) and other birth defects they will not give you PMS or affect a pregnancy test. If you are thinking of getting pregnant or are pregnant, get to Walmart (they have prenatal vitamins in the vitamin section) or the drug store and get some vitamins that are specifically prenatal vitamins. You should be taking the vitamins way before you even get pregnant as you need at least 700 mcg of folic acid a day. Captain Crunch is also a great source for folic acid. I have a girlfriend who has a child with Spina Bifida as a result of her not getting proper nutrition in the first few weeks of development. People sometimes wait until they know they are pregnant and then they start taking vitamins but sometimes by then the damage is already done as the baby has already begun to develop.

No it does not they are just really good vitamins. Men can take them also. Women often take them to make their hair nice. If you are taking them for a reason other than pregnancy you might want to look for one without iron.
Prenatal vitamins are just good vitamins for a pregnant woman or for any other person for that matter. They have no hormones in them so they are not going to cause a false positive on a pregnancy test pms. Any woman who is wanting to get pregnant should talk to her doctor about what precautions to take prior to trying to get preganant. And diguss a vitamin.

Vitamins generally do not have any side effects. I know there are some vitamins that are very important for pregnancy, like folic acid, calcium and D. See a doctor for how much you should be taking. Make sure to tell the doctor all over the counter things you are taking so that they can help you to avoid any dangerous drug interactions, some drugs do not get along together.

The OTC ones are only almost as good because the prescribed ones. The OTC ones have each of the supplements that you and infant favor. The prescribed ones many times have somewhat extra supplements in them. So both way your good. i'm getting the single an afternoon prenatal supplements, $13 for a month furnish. the ones you buy in the store do not. If you are taking them for low iron and they are a prescription make sure to ask your doctor to give you ones that do not have hormones in them. If you get them over the counter at the store, they have just as much iron. They are great for your teeth, hair and nails weather you are prego or not. But make sure you eat something with them, like take them with breakfast or a meal. otherwise they make your stomach queasy.

No, they just make you feel healthy, and have great nails! Lots of people take them even when they are not pregnant.
