I have a Chevy Silverado SS naturally aspirated. I would like to either get a supercharger or turbocharger for it, which is best? right now im leaning more towards the supercharger, but how much power does it really take? you will def. notice the increase in power though, right? which would you recommend? will either damage the engine?

Go with the supercharger.. there are a dozen companys that offer them and Im sure you can find exactly what you need. Also the amount of power they "take" to spin is paid back in spades in the extra power they produce. Kenny Bell makes an awesome kit with everything you need ( its what I have on my Mustang ) prepare to shell out some big bucks.. and make some BIG power!!

BTW BOTH will damage your engine if your not careful... be conservative with the boost at first as you will need to beef up the rest of your drivetrain to handle the extra power and torque.

I would go with the supercharger. The import guys will tell you I'm full of s##t but it would be a much easier install. Yes, the supercharger is belt driven so you will not gain as much power per pound of boost due to drag but I think on a street driven vehicle it's worth the trade. The cost and skill required to properly set up and tune a turbo system seems to be a little out of reach for most of us. Either way, 7 pounds of boost is pretty safe and will give you a substantial gain in power and torque.

Well i would go with the supercharger. Watch your foot though any extra power to an engine can hurt it . It wasn't designed for the supercharger but gasing it every once and a while wont kill the engine.

If you're looking for real power then a turbo, buuuut! the turbos are very high maintenance as compared to superchargers. Superchargers are weaker but better in a way because they give you optimum power instantly and you dont have to wait for it to spool like a turbo.. look into Vortech, the best of both worlds..

Super/Turbo-charge a pick-up truck? Did you do all the suspension work already? otherwise a charger or turbo will just spin your tires. Lack of traction will be your greatest problem. But, defenitely get as large a Supercharger that will fit, the only way since you have a raised SS hood, right? Don't get a winpy charger, it'll be a waste of your money.

For any type of muscle car or truck I would get a supercharger. I kinda think of it as, American cars are better with superchargers and imports are better with turbochargers....just my opinion.
