Buy some professional piercing needles and cleanse your ear with an antiseptic wipe to remove any germs... I guess you could try numbing it with ice, or just go ahead and put the needle through if you can bear some pain.

Or a safer alternative is to pay to have it done.

I've pierced my lobes twice before and my lip (in the center), but I admit it was rather foolish, but hey, they didn't get infected.

If you decide to pierce it yourself, make sure you buy some cleansing solution or use salt water to cleanse your ear twice a day to keep infection away.

I was 14 when i did this at a sleep over party in the cartilage with ice and a big needle that we put in hot water from TCP and it Frigging killed, we saw Grease and the did it in Sandy's lobe and I was Game a bleeding idiot. I ended up going to hospital as i hid it from my mum and the ear tried to heal over the earring as i was 2 small and it got badly infected. It was more painful than I can explain a strand of hair getting caught in the back of the stud and i was sobbing It really frigging killed more than it was worth!

The hospital told me this earring could have caused some type of poisioning and i was luck it was not more serious now i am left with and ugly looking lumpy part on the top of my ear
This is why you go to a body piercing place that is registered as they have the correct equipment to do the piercing and the correct sized earrings and know all about the after care and possible side effects.

I don't know how old you are to come up with this stupid idea of wanting to do it yourself. There are still chances that getting it done by a profesional it can get infected what do you think those chances are if you do it yourself at home. Much higher i know!

At places like Clares Accessories it cost less than £10 to get it done and you get the after care you need.
Why risk doing it yourself to save a bit of money or whatever your intentions are when you are more likely to end up paying more than it would have cost to have it pierced in a shop in the first place on cream and antibiotics when it does get infected.

I would sugest going to the piercing places in town and asking questions and finding the best place to get it done that suits you than doing it yourself.
I know if sounds so simple to do but i know from doing it myself as a teen its really not work the pain and should be done by an expert.

AHhhhhhhh never do cartilage yourself!!! It gets infected sooo easily, and cartlage doesn't have its own blood supply, so the infection takes a really hardcore antibiotic to go away, and maybe not even then.. you could lose your ear cartilage.. so just suck it up and pay 60 bucks to get them done (i just got 2 last week, woot!)

Ooooooooouch. For professional purposes I will not be liable for anything that happens but- oh dear goodness- if you're going to do it anyway- please go to Sally's and get a kit. I had a friend who did it with a safety pin- she no longer has a whole ear and it contracted tetanus and there was a casualty of ear.

Why would you do this yourself, you have a high risk of getting an infection which cost you alot more then the piercings by a professional

you shouldent do it yourself it is risky and you will probly get an infection also you have loads of little veins on the back of your ear and if you peirce one of the veins (wich are very hard to avoid) then your ear will never heal! but if you really want to then use a sterolised needle and numb your ear first
