I'm afraid you are out of luck; although there are some products that will help mask the discoloration (available at The Home Depot, Loews, etc.) - once your sink starts to show signs of corrosion, it means that the coating has worn through - its time for a new one. If you have a "drop-in" style sink it is very easy to swap out and the price is pretty cheep, about $130-$200 for a good single bowl, a little higher for a double bowl. However, if you have an "undermount" style sink (mounted underneath the counter top) it is going to be more difficult to remove and will cost you about twice as much. Whichever type of sink you need make sure the quality of the stainless steel is 18/10 nickel - it will never corrode unless scratched very deeply. Also, try to purchase a thicker gauge steel like an 18 instead of a basic 20 (the smaller the number, the thicker the steel). Anyways, good luck to you...

Use barkeepers friend (the powder) It works like comet or ajax, but rub it in like a polish. Rinse it completely when done, lots of water. It will bring the chrome to the surface (called passivation, usually done with acid). Trust me, if this doesn't work nothing will. Do a search for it on the net. I use it for my stainless steel grill. Just rinse it off thoroughly or you will have rouging (discoloration).
