No.
1. Donadoni is now Italy's coach. He's 43, is a former experienced Milan and Italy player. Hasn't experience as coach at great level. Last year he was Livorno's coach and had an impressive championship, pulling the team at 5th place. Then he resigned due to disagreement with Livorno's owner, Spinelli. The replacing coach, Mazzone, lose all the resting match... this means Donadoni was working well and players like his way.
I'm sure he will create his own line-up and tactics.
Euro 2008 will be a test tournament to check improvements.
2. Line-up will change due to aging players. Materazzi, Del Piero, Inzaghi and captain Cannavaro will leave the team. Some players will be picked between Gattuso, Camoranesi, Zambrotta, Grosso, Nesta, Toni, Totti, but not the whole bunch, they were born in 1976-77. Someone will take part in Euro '08, no one in FIFA 2010. New key players will be Buffon - Pirlo - De Rossi - Gilardino. Other will come from Under-21 (Aquilani, Bovo, Chiellini, Foggia, Montolivo, Rosina, Donadel, Pazzini).
3. Due to football scandal, many world champions will leave their teams. This trouble will hit especially Juventus, relegated in 'serie B'. Of course, players will be sold to other countries teams to avoid enforcing Italians team. Italian crowd, press and networks dislike players who join foreign teams. This issue will help Donadoni to completely rebuild an aging team.
4. Crowd, press, federation are highly satisfied with WC victory. I guess they will support Donadoni in freely building his new line-up without the usual mighty pressure about choose and results.
5. Finally, I guess Italy could play a great Euro 2008, not dominate it. In '90 we had the better playing team since '82 and we only got 3rd place.
Let's see what will happen and FORZA AZZURRI!!!

I'm sorry, but I don't think so. I like the Italian team but I wouldn't put my money on them for the next Euro. That's 2 years from now so it's hard to predict. Even though Italy won the WC I still think there were other teams like Spain who played much better. Spain has some amazing young talent that I'd watch for in a few years.

I don't think so. Undoubtedly, Italy is a strong team - always have been, but to conquer another cup ain't that easy a feat. Look at Greece, winners of the previous Euro cup yet missing in action in the World Cup. Somehow my gut feeling tells me that Italy will not be the next Euro cup champs. In any case, I'll be rooting for England. =)

That's a hard one. Many teams have their veteran players retiring after this WC and it is yet to be verified who will stick around for Euro. All four finalists will again compete and will be looking to better their performances, as will those that have themselves to prove after elimination at the WC. It's a different tournament so I guess the only thing that can be said with any certainty is that it will be extremely competitive. All will be out to knock off the world cup champs, so yeah..I am really looking forward to it ...just hope I can get coverage in Australia. Good Luck everyone.

Well you can't really say, Italy will be playing with a new coach as Lippi has retired...the new coach is now Donadoni, who is quite young and has very little coaching experience.....apparantly his techniques are quite different from Lippi's and he has told the media that Italy is ready for "a modern soccer", therefore it all depends if he makes any changes to the line-up of soccer players and if he can keep the team spirit going......the first match will be in September (against France) so already we will be able to see a glimpse of how it is going with the new Italian coach......

Honestly no - I was absolutely shocked that they won the world cup, which was down to Cannavaro and Buffon keeping the goals conceded down - the Italian squad is aging, so come 2008 plenty of this world cup winning squad will be missing - may be I just do not know enough about Italian football, but I do not know of many young up and coming players that will fill the gaps left.

Not everyday is Christmas and not everyday they have a little "help".
Anyway, the example of Greece is good. Nobody believes in them and they won the Euro, even if later didn't qualify for Worl Cup.
Euro is difficult because you have teams that can be very complicate like Denmark, Belgium, Romania, Bulgaria, Russia...

No, as the players have a tough group with France just to qualify. Most of the players are getting old together and two years on it may well be the last hurrah.
