It is hard to determine if someone cares about you especially if they don't react to you in any way. That includes talking to you, being there for you, helping when and if you need their help, and being a friend first and foremost. Caring is an individual feeling that can only be expressed by the one who cares. It is an empty feeling to care when it is not returned........

You know when someone cares about you when they find time to listen to you. They are genuinely interested in your well being and are attentive to what you have to say. They will set aside time for you when you really need them and lend you a shoulder to cry on when you feel upset and lost. They will do their best to cheer you up when you are down, and are around to share your joy and happiness. Their actions will point you to the fact that you matter alot to them.
On a lighter note, you know when someone cares about you when they answer your question when you post it on Yahoo! Answers. Lol.

They will treat you with respect and never put you down. They will ask how you are doing or feeling and really be concerned about you. They talk to you even when they know that you don't have money or fancy cars, clothes, house, etc. Most of all they like spending quality time with you.

When someone cares about you they know what makes you happy and they know what makes you sad and they try to make you happy and not sad.
