OTC stands for "Over the Counter". There are different types of pain medication and people react to them differently. For back pain, I would go with Ibuprofen. Read more about it here: http://health.yahoo.com/drug/d00015a1
I also suffer from extreme backpain at times due to arthritis. Ibuprofen works for me, but something else might work better for you. Good luck with your back.

OTC=over the counter, including Tylenol(acetamenophen), Advil (ibuprofen, Motrin), Naproxen(Naprosyn), Aspirin.
You should read and follow the directions on the package, overdose is relative to your age, your size and your health, so it's not easy to say unless you were trying to take a whole bottle, which is stupid because you would kill you liver.

in the usa, otc pain killers are generally effective by having anti inflamatory effects. all of them can be toxic and all of them doesn't treat the underlying problem. the legalities of any med is a fool hearted deep hole. legal definitions would be needed to reveal the finer points and would only hold true if your behavior was the result of a doesage related outcome.
stop exercising if it gives you pain out of normal soreness. prescribe appropriate exercise regiman for your injured back and progress accordingly

Never ever mix alcohol with any drug, that is a fatal error that can become fatal for you! If you're having a headache, it's is probably best to just take tylenol...Do not take too many different types of medications either; over the counter or other wise! You planning on dying or something?
