How do I get an Autograph Authenticated?

I have Emmett Kelly the clown autograph picture postcards that he autograph and dated I'am sure they are real but how do I know? and where can I go in California near SF to get it authenticated? and how much would theese autograph's be worth?

I don't know a lot but there are probably listings in the Phone Book or you could probably look on the internet. Hope it helps.
