Erin with an E is typically a girl. Aaron is usually the boy's spelling. I have known Erins who are male, though.

My name is Erin, I am male. I will now answer this question. Erin is both a female and male name. Being as I am a male, obviously the name can also be male as well as female.
As for "Aaron" this name has nothing to do with Erin and is not the male equivalent in any sense. The origin of "Aaron" is Hebrew and Arabic and its earliest incarnation is from the Old Testament referring to the Brother (male) of Moses.
Erin is a deviation of the traditional name for the country of Ireland and has its roots in old Gaelic. The ancient Gaelic phrase "Erin Go Braugh" is a traditional Irish drinking salute meaning "Ireland Forever."
I hope this ends this debate, seeing as Aaron and Erin have nothing to do with each other at all and are spelled different and properly pronounced differently.

I have only known one person named "Erin" who was a guy. I have known MANY people with that name who were girls.
