If some straight people really believe that sexuality is a choice, then that means they believe every person is bisexual (has the capacity to go either way) and if they think we have a choice, then that means there was a time in their own lives when they themselves had to decide if they wanted to be straight or gay. So you do agree then that God made YOU bisexual, yes?
And you made a choice to be straight...am I correct? Because that is what you are basically saying when you say that "we chose to be gay". Why would we have the ability to choose to be gay...but you were born straight? I don't get it. Where was I when all the kids at school were trying to decide whether to be gay or straight? Were there discussions and forums with adults helping to lead us to the better decision?
If it was a choice, why are there so many tormented teens who commit suicide? They could just have easily chosen to switch rather than kill themselves.
If we were able to, we would have ALL chosen to live in the safer, easier world of heterosexuality, but we couldn’t because our sexuality is something that we cannot choose or change.
And if it were a choice…why would anyone choose a lifestyle that causes divisions and harassment with friends, family and society?
Fundamentalist like to say we have a choice because it makes us responsible for making ourselves gay. In so doing, it makes it OK for them to make judgments about us that ONLY GOD CAN MAKE. And it seems even the Father does not judge us. See John 5:22. In condemning us, they are putting themselves in the position of God…and we know what Jesus said about these kinds of people.

I do not believe a person chooses to be a gay or lesbian. . They are called upon from an inner power or source. And now matter how they try to hold back they can not and they go forward with it, even though they know it is not what people think is right. I do not have a problem with. A person should be able to live their lives the way they choose as long as they are not harming anyone. and for this closet homosexuality that is bullshit. There is no reason to be scared. If they keep staying in the closet how can they get congress to make it legal to marry. I am a straight person.. But all for the rights of all people....

There are people who are truly gay and people who are "play gay."
For people who are truly gay, it is not a choice. Scientists have shown that we have codings in our DNA that censor the population. Science has shown that when certain animals are confined to a space and resources are running low, off spring may revert to homosexuality. This is a defense because if they are gay, they cannot create a further demand on the resources present.
Also, in the case of men, science has shown that a mother can develop antibodies male protiens and cause homosexuality.
For these people, they do not choose to be it.
There are people however, who choose to be gay. I knew a guy in high school who couldn't get with a girl, so he decided he'd have better luck with the guys. There are also girls who play with each other to impress guys. These people choose to display homosexual activities.
I guess you could crudly put it this way:
"Real homosexuals have relationships, pretend homosexuals have sex"

Yeah I agree that those idiots are absurd. I am not a homosexual, but I am transgendered, and anyone who thinks we chose to be like this, needs to wake up one day and feel what we feel. Maybe then these right wing moron Christians can realize that this is no choice. This is something very real that we are born with, and it aggrivates me to no end when people think that it is a choice.

I happen to agree with both sides of this argument. I do believe that some are born gay and some chose to be. I have a friend who has known she was gay since she was 2. But also at the same time there are those few who are molested by relatives or strangers during their childhood who might subconsciously make them feel uncomfortably around the sex they were molested by. This is just my opinion you can call me whatever you want that still isn't going to change where I stand on this issue.............

Choice is a stupid word, and whoever picked it probably wanted the Gays to suffer, but conspiracy theories aside:
There are multiple theorized causes for homosexuality, from genetics, to hormonal washes in the womb, to childhood abuse, to very random other crap. But it is obviously by no means a choice.
How very ridiculously flamboyant some choose to portray themselves, alienate the general public, and ruin the image for others trying to lead what's left of a normal lifestyle however, that is by all means a choice.

Only the mis-aligned and maladjusted think that saying God Damn is taking God's name in vain. This mindset is a result of bible-thumpers impaling their values on society in the 'name of the lawd'. If you call to God to perpetuate your vanity and self-serving lifestyles, you are doing so in vain. God will not hear those prayers. THAT is taking the Lord's name in vain.
Adam and Steve? That is propoganda. If I had a dime for every *** backwards hick who claims to know Jeeeeeeee-zussss who has used that phrase, I could buy my own southern inbred church.
We all have met kids who, even in grade school, were 'light in the loafers', or 'sissy'. How about girls who were 'Tomboys' or 'a bit butch'? Why would they CHOOSE to be that way? What would Jesus say? What would Jesus do?

Homosexuality is not a choice/ Some people, especially the fundamentalist, believe that if one really tries "with the help of what ever god they have" , it can change a person's life. Not so. How sad that some people don't realize that.

i was lucky in that i went to a highschool where people were more likely to defend the homo/bi/transexuals than to bash them. well, that then lead to people feeling more free to explore their own sexuality. what i witnessed lead me to believe tht it's a lot easier for females to choose whether they're hetero, homo, or bisexual than it is for males. and that males have a more dificult time even accepting it then females. it usually boiled down for the guys to they dont care as long as they dont get hit on or checked out in the locker room or anything, while the gals didn't worry about it so much. what's up with you guys thinkin the whole world's lookin at you ;p - not like girls aren't in the same situation. But i think it depends a lot on how you were born and also the experiences you've had, earlier and later in your life.

These people say it's a choice that they made on their own free will. If you can choose to be homosexual, I don't see why you can't choose NOT to be... but it really comes down to what a person thinks is best for them individually. Just because it's a choice you can make, doesn't mean it's a choice you should make.
