Yeah, those are braxton hicks contractions. When you have actual labor contractions, they feel very different. Your entire uterus will tighten up, they last about a minute, and come every few minutes. They're like clock work, so you'll know when you start going into labor.

BH contractions make your stomach feel tight and hard as a rock. Labor contractions are A LOT stronger and more painful. They come more frequently. You can get a lot of BH contractions if you are dehydrated. I usually drink a few bottles of water if I am getting a lot of them and they go away. I also try changing positions. If you are having a lot of contractions at regualar intervals and are coming closer and closer together and drinking water and changing positions don't help, call your doctor. Make sure you keep track of how many you're having and how far apart they're coming.

BH contractions are typically sparatic and not consistant in time span and intensity. Regular contractions usually start out very subtle, and grow in intensity and get closer together with time. They can both be hard to tell, but if you think you're having contractions, time them. If they get closer together, or are about 2 minutes apart, check with your ob and find out what they would like you to do.

Good Luck!

I think you are having BH.. Contractions usually start from your lower back then they move to the front of your abdomen.

BH feel tight - contractions HURT. Everyone told me, if you have to ask if they are contractions, they aren't, and when the time came, I realized they were right.
