If your native language is Spanish then, of course, you think in Spanish. If your native language is something other than Spanish (English for example) then there is a good chance that you think in English and translate it into Spanish when you speak. However some people become really proficient in a second language and can think in it when they are speaking it.

If you're a native Spanish speaker, then yes. If you're speaking Spanish as a second or foreign language, then ideally you'd want to think in Spanish. The more fluent you are, the more you think in that language. The less fluent you are, the more you think in your first language and translate as you go.

It depends how fluent you are. Mexicans obviously think in Spanish. An American who studys for a year is still going to think in English. But I know a foreign exchange student who spoke portuguese in Brazil. He said at first he still thought like that but after awhile he could think in English.

Recent studies have shown that people that are fluently bi-lingual think in the culture of the language they are speaking. But hey what do those silly universities know!?. I think yes personally. When I speak it, it reminds me of the people and terrains in Mexico. I think Spanish is a very beautiful language. It's just a humble tongue. Damn! I sound like a chick. (grunt grunt)

English, Spanish, Japanese (in order of the languages I know best)

I find that when I speak in English, I think in English.
Speak in Spanish, think in English.
Speak in Japanese, think in Spanish.

It is much easier for me to transition between Spanish and Japanese than it is between English and Japanese. I don't know why, but that's how it is for me.
