And do you think this will escalate into a wider war? Will the Lebanese government fight against Hezbollah or the Israelis? Will the US intervene?

Already have, sent in today. The Lebanese Army (which out numbers Hezbollah) 6-1 needs to take a stance against Hezbolla and help Israel eliminate this Iran financed gorilla terroristsgroup that is good for nothing. Syria is partners also but not as much as Iran is (look at the history).

The IDF has not ruled out massive ground deployment in Lebanon. Should this happen I expect fighting within Lebanon borders between two opposing camps. For the past two years Lebanon has been split into pro-Syrian and anti-Syrian camps.

The anti-Syrian camp is a loose alliance of Christians, Sunnis and Druze. They might side with the Israelis in the fighting.

Prominent among Syria's allies are the two main Shia groups, Hezbollah and Amal who will battle the anti-Syria camp and Israel. Lebanon slips back to civil war again. US, Syria, Iran all not involved directly.

Yes this will turn into a wider war if the israeli soldiers arent returned home quickly. I doubt the lebaneese people will fight hezbollah. In fact, i dont think Lebanon has the strength to fight at all.

i think Israel is going to keep bashing lebanon until hezbollah is destroyed. It is important to keep in mind tho, that israel has nothing agsinst the lebaneese people. It is hezbolah they are after.

The US will only intervene if Syria and/or Iran gets involved.

I belive this will be the start of WWIII. Sadly.

Hezbollah will not give chance to Israel to slip into with ground troops because they are excellent at treating with ground troops .
