Syria is acting surprised at Hezbollahs's actions and pretending they want to 'help' negotiate a ceasefire. In fact, Hezbollah is a wholly owned subsidiary of Syria and Iran.
If you can't figure out the irony in that, you're not paying attention.

The 'irony' of the situation IS, that the American president could/should call the Israeli president (or whatever he is) and stop all this "sxxt"! Or, alternatively, he could stop using the US vote in such a shameful way at the UN!! If the US hadn't been vetoing action against Israel for decades the war would probably have been over years ago!
The UN has been trying desperately to help the situation by using sanctions against Israel ... but America loves to murder Muslims, so it chose to prolong everyone's suffering! But the Americans have shot the Israelis in the foot - it's not just Muslims who are suffering, Jews are too, and so is anyone else who happens to get in the way!

IF the Syrian president was egging on the situation and/or militarily supporting hezbollah and doing so was demonstrably detrimental to Syria's better interests and the Syrian president COULD simply ring up the hezbollah leader on the phone and say STOP and he would, THEN "irony" might be the right term. But: 1) I don't know that that scenario is true and 2) I'd be more inclined to use "counter-productive" or "counter-intuitive" than "ironic".

I was riding in a taxicab this morning and there was a female dispatcher on the two-way radio. She was dispatching the cabs to various addresses and the usual dispatch chatter was going on. Suddenly, the dispatcher asked?... Michael Hunt, are you out there... Mike? Do you read me?... Mike Hunt, Mike Hunt... Come in, ... Come In... Come in Mike Hunt. I don't know why this seem so funny to me- it's just a persons name.
I couldn't stop laughing. I think something shot out of my nose!
