When the system of justice punishes in a manner that is as cruel as the perpetrator, then our system has failed in that it holds no more regard for the torture of a human being than did the criminal who committed the act.
I believe in the death penalty, but not to inflict state sponsored torture in the same manner as the criminal inflicted it upon his victim(s).
Because of the highly touted fairy tale called the bible, people actually believe the world can exist on the basis of getting even (an eye for an eye...). Nothing could be further from the truth. The only thing and eye for an eye does is create more violence, and generally creates violence that does not end.
The sooner all peoples realize that the world should be a place where we all work on getting better as opposed to getting even, the sooner we will have a peaceful planet.

I was riding in a taxicab this morning and there was a female dispatcher on the two-way radio. She was dispatching the cabs to various addresses and the usual dispatch chatter was going on. Suddenly, the dispatcher asked?... Michael Hunt, are you out there... Mike? Do you read me?... Mike Hunt, Mike Hunt... Come in, ... Come In... Come in Mike Hunt. I don't know why this seem so funny to me- it's just a persons name.

I couldn't stop laughing. I think something shot out of my nose!
