Someone who uses a computer service but is
offsite (logging in from an external network) into
a places local area network or computer.

If you work at Jones Farming Equipment, they might
have a computer network you work on. When you go
home you might log onto a computer on that network
from your home computer... you are a remote user then.

Using the internet and intranet can allow people to log on and control your computer from theirs. This can be used by hackers as hijacking or it can be used by people at microsoft or something to help fix a problem. Or it could be you accessing your home computer from work.
