She has never had one done before. She is deafly afraid of needles and things that a pap smear is going to hurt. She is still a virgin, but her parents are making her take one because of her sister being pregnant and suspect that me and her have been having sex like her sister. I know her parents are just wanting the best for her and all. But my gf is very afraid of it. She can't stand needels and thinks it's going to hurt. Is there anything I can do or say that will ease her worry. Please help, I don't want her to worry or anything because then when she does have it done, she is going to be very tense and it can make it hurt if she is too tense for them to work. Please, if there is anything that you know that I can do to help ease her worries, please tell me.

I have looked into a pap smear, they say it's painless, but what if they are a virgin still and their vaginal opening doesn't open far, will it still hurt?

It can be a little uncomfortable, and embarrassing. Tell her to focus on counting the ceiling tiles, or a picture on the wall. It's a relatively quick procedure. Make sure she tells her doctor she is a virgin...A pap smear is really unnessary unless she's sexually active or having other problems, so It probally won't be done. The Pap Test is to detect cell changes (Precancerous) which is usually the result of the HPV virus, which is sexually transmitted. A pelvic examine is what they will do. Which is just feeling with a gloved hand to see if there are any abnomalities.

let me start by saying i have alot of respect for you as a male!!
there should be more like you out there!!! to your question, since it is her first one and she is still a virgin it might be a little scary
and uncomfortable it should not hurt,my first one as a virgin didn't
but every woman is shaped different, and if she's tense it will be
more uncomfortable, even some one who is not a virgin will have
some discomfort if she's tense, she might have a little spotty
bleeding afterwards thats normal after the first time or at any time after you've had sex it happens to some but like i said is normal,as for you helpng her ease the fear,if she does get it done
tell her at least her parents will know that you both are responsible enough to not be having sex you didn't say how old the 2 of you are but since you said her parents are making her i
feel you are both minors, congratulations for being respectable, responsible mature and caring people,as for her sister being pregnant every one has faults and makes mistakes but just because she did does not mean she is,my sisiter was 16 when she got pregnant,i am 2 years older and was a virgin when i got married,so you see people are different tell her you love her if you do and that to think of "your" song or where you went on your first date, anything that has made her happy, and to take deep breaths, that helps to,give her something small to hold on to ,to remind her of you something no one (parents) can see
maybe one of those gaurdian angels that will help she can hold that and think of good things.

B/c she's a virgin, she'll likely be tense that she's being "touched", so she needs to make the doc aware. I recommend seeing a nurse midwife if she has a choice--they are usually less "business-like" and will talk to their patient during the exam. Give her something nice or funny to think about that will keep her mind off the exam. The results will be back and confirm that she is healthy!

OK, There are no needles or SCARY instruments used. I have actually been on both ends of this. I have internshiped with many gynos. and been to gynos before. They arent gonna crank you open that much.. its basically almost two fingers wide and doesnt hurt a bit. its uncomfortable but does not hurt. Just tell her to relax and everything will be fine. If she is still worried Email me. and i can go in depth of the procedur

Ive got a few ideas...Just have her relax and calm her down before hand if you know what I mean? Doesn't have to be sex...just get her mind off everything. A sweet, romantic date or something like that.

Tell her when she goes to the doctor that she's a virgin. They will be nice and gentle with her. Especially if it's a woman that's going to do it. I feel for her there. It happened to me, too.

It will be fine. The doctor literally just inserts a long Qtip in there.

Tell her plenty of virgins use tampons, and it will be just as, if not less, intrusive as that.
