Well yeah...... It's not particularly flattering to any Woman when she sits with her legs open to the public & the world while she's out with friends, or somewhere else in public. In addition, it isn't very classy either...and not a way that a Woman should appear while out in restaurants or conducting business...etc....
At home....any Woman ...can do whatever they want as far as how closed or open they leave their legs when they sit......they could spread eagle on their couch for all I care...they are in the privacy of their own home, but there is a certain way Women should conduct themselves while they are out of that privacy within their own home .....so it appears to others.... that you aren't a pig, or have any manners ...etc... Instead ...you appear more " Lady Like " , Classy & dignified. Not cheap, sloppy and classless.

Aw, fingyfangy, you know. It's for modesty sake. (Remember Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct? Tacky, rude.) It's more genteel, ladylike when wearing a skirt. I don't think it's necessary when wearing slacks or jeans.

be it a man or woman who sits with ther legs wide open is consider rude, no etiquette or manners.
