There's a build up of bacteria. This usually happens when you first get your fish but should clear up. Make sure and test all the levels of the water, or take a sample of the water to a pet store so they can test it. A fish person at a pet or aquarium store should be able to direct you to the proper solution.

How big is your bowl?

I have two bettas, each in a separte bowl of a gallon size, I feed them 6 to 8 pellets in the morning and 8 - 12 brien shrimp in the evening, and change water 100% once a week, and I use bowl buddy also. The water didn't get cloudy at all, but of course, don't expect it will be as clear as the first day they got changed.

My guess is the betta didn't get a peice of the food and its rotting in the gravel. Change all of the water and clean the gravel out. Put the betta in clean water back into his cup while you are cleaning. You can hand catch him or net him. Be careful he doesn't flop out. To prevent paniced jumping from your hand or net, transfer him into the cup over the bowl, so if he falls out he will land into the water. Your feeding schedule is fine 3 pellets per day. Skip a day once or twice per week. Change all of his water every 5 days. Spring water is best. If you use distilled water you will have to use buffers to replace minerals. Spring water already has these minerals in it. Congrats on your new pet. If you keep the bowl nice and tidy he should live 3 to 4 years. They can live in a 1 gallon bowl but be dilligent taking care of his water. Bettas will do better longer in a bigger tank with filtration though. The other people are right about that. Its true of all fish, the bigger the tank and the less crowded that tank is the better off the fish will be.

You are over feeding your fish and your tank, and maybe you will have to change the type of food that you are feeding the fish as it could be making your water murky, remember only feed your fish as much as it can eat in about a minute, if the fish does not eat it all then remove it from the water, if you only have one fish about 3 pellets should be enough to suffice

Either you are over feeding or your bowl is too small to only have a water change every week. A bowl of only 1 gallon or smaller needs to be changed every 4 days. Also you should really be washing the gravel when you change the water in an unfiltered bowl.

Do you just have one fish swimming around in a bowl alone? Do you have a water filter, they are good for keeping the water clean and putting oxygen into the water and wouldnt break the bank.
Also sounds like you might be feeding him to much.

Cut down on feed. A lot of people only feed their bettas every other day. And if possible get a bigger tank - try for a 5 gallon, and a heater - bettas like warmer water.

Otherwise do lots of water changes.

Hi,
Cloudy water might be due to bacterial bloom or you might be feeding too much.
Cut down on feed, once or twice a day.
Check if there is any uneaten food at bottom. If you can see it siphon it out.
Change 50% of water every 3 days and this problem should go away

Change to bigger bowls. Change the water 30% every three days for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, change the water every week. Reduce the food, make sure your fish eat it all.

To be quite honest, I've used Jungle products before, and they didn't do anything for my tank, either. And, I know people say that you should change the water once a week, but if it's in a bowl, it should be every few days. Just do a partial water change every few days, and it should stay clean. Best of luck to you!
