Is it weird that I prefer pets over children?

I get more excited when I see a cute animal than a cute baby. I guess cute babies just don't do much for me. Is that weird? I just love animals so much. I'd much rather play with a kitten or puppy than a baby. Anyone else have the same feeling?

no, I get along better with pets than with kids. I feel like animals understand me!! like were on the same level. lol you can control them. and they behave better.
it's not weird trust me...a great substitute though. Puppies are cuter!!! hahaha

No, that is definitely not weird. I have grown kids now and when they were growing up, I had a cat that l loved like my first child. He was there before either of them were born. They always claimed I loved Jasper more than them. I don't think that was true, but he was always there for me.

He didn't do anything to make me mad. When I was upset or crying, he always knew and would come and try to comfort me. He didn't get on my nerves like kids tend to do. He didn't talk back to me. He only loved me.

Now, my kids are grown and I have a 3 year old grandaughter that I love to death, but I can only take so much of her. My cats on the other hand just entertain me daily. They are the sweetest most loving animals and don't throw screaming fits like my grandaughter.

If I had the choice, I could handle working at a humane society, dog or cat kennel, or anything to do with animals, before I could work in a daycare center. I love my animals and a lot of people don't understand. But, I definitely understand where you are coming from.

Well i have 5 kids, 2 dogs N 1 cat. Its competition because a baby you can raise and let it work with you, pay you when you retire ETC. A pet tooo is good because it keeps you company, you can train it to do tricks, a cat you can see its cute oh i dont know pets are the best. Its just hard to choose.

I used to feel the same way you do until I had my first child. Now I just can't pass up gazing and smiling at a newborn baby. Oh, but I still absolutely love animals, especially baby ones!

i felt that very way for a long time. i always loved kids but i really loved animals.

then i met my husband and fell in love with him...and oops.

we found out our first baby (chocolate lab) was going to have a brother.

now that i have a child...he is my world. i see the man i love most in the world reflect back at me in that little face. when he laughs at me i can't describe what it does to my heart.

not to be cliche...but when its YOUR baby...it really is different.

in the mean time. love away on those animals cause goodness only knows we need more love in this world...where, when and with whatever creature, we can get!

(my six month old still does NOT fetch nearly as well as kaia, the lab...so there you have it.)

NO not weird at all. Human nature to be the way you are.

I am that way too. I have 3 kids PLUS a cat, hamster & fish.

There are DAYS when I love my kids MORE than my CAT!!!

Then there are those DAYS when I LOVE my CAT more than my KIDS!!!

ALL babies are CUTE when they are LITTLE. It's when they GROW UP, the difficulty begins.

I love both. You must not have children yet. Once you do you'll change your opinion. Don't forget,humans are more important than animals.

I feel precisely the same way--which is why I have lots of fun animals (you can see them at photos.yahoo.com/star_momma) and no kids.
