Delete unwanted files, unistall unused programs, consider buying an external hard drive. External hard drives are fairly cheap, easy to use, and helpful.

There are a couple of options:

First, delete your Internet History and cache files. Make sure there is nothing in there you deleted by mistake, and empty your Recycle Bin. That will clear out a bit of space, which can't hurt. Then, you have several choices:

1: You can run Disk Cleanup, but if you do you want to monitor what it does, so it won't remove anything you want to keep. It simply works on the principle that, if you haven't used something in a while, you must not want it or need to keep it, which may or may not be true in all cases.

2: If you have programs installed on your computer that you don't use, go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall them. Just make sure you know what a program is before you uninstall it, so you don't get rid of something you need. In addition, look through your own files; if you find anything you don't want, get rid of it.

3: To just clear up a little space so you can defragment your hard drive, move some of your files to recordable or rewriteable CDs or DVDs, depending on what kind of discs you can burn, then copy them back to your hard drive once you're done defragmenting.

4: You can have Windows compress files, or you can get WinZip to compress certain files for you, so that you can keep the files without having them take up as much space as before. However, to compress files, you may have to resort to solution 3; compression ususally requires a certain amount of free space for temporary files. *And be warned*, if you set the option to delete files that are compressed, and there is too little space so that the compression program crashes, you will lose the files completely! Which is why you should use option 3 to do this.

1.Start>control panel>add and remove program
Then remove any programs that you no longer need or want.

2.Right click on your HDD and click Properties> then click "disk clean up" at the right bottom. The next pop-up window, you can delete all of the contents, they are temporary internet files and files in your recycle bin.

3. Do disk defragment if it is need. Check your HDD also!
4. Scan virus with an anti-virus software or ad-aware.

If u use the internet delete the offline files and temp files using disk cleanup. Search for all *.bak files and delete them.

If u are using XP with NTFS file system then right click on your C: drive and choose "properties" choose the check box of "compresson" press "Apply". choose "Ignore" only if any message arrive. You will have atleast 10% more free spaces.

First thing you have to do is to check thru ur drives for unused files or unnecessary files that take up space, after that, try to get advanced uninstaller pro 2004....version 6 at www.innovative-sol.com and run all d necessary elements, then run registry mechanic and that should work...take care

if you've used up all but 12% of your hard drive, you have got way to much stuff on that computer...you must have some really old programs that you don't use that you could delete....do your late spring cleaning, it should help a lot

One BIG WASTE OF SPACE on your hard rive is the RECYCLE BIN!!!!!!!!!!!

By default it's set at 10% So, if you have a 200 GB drive, that's 20GB!!!

Highlight the RECYCLE BIN, then RIGHT CLICK, Click PROPERTIES, then set to 1%.

You'll have to Restart for it to take effect.

remove programs (and files) you dont need. empty your recycle bin, convert pictures to jpg or gif format (open it, go to file, save as, 'name.jpg') and delete the old copy. save stuf to a dvd, cd, flash drive, or any other disk and delete your files.
