My husband lies to be about small stuff like quiting smoking, money, problems at work, how he is feeling, and more. He has never cheated on me as far as I know but I have trouble believing whta he says. Should I forgive him and if so how do I trust him again?

I have told my husband how I feel and ask him why and all he says is he does not know or that he is afraid to tell me the truth. I tell him it is better he tells the truth because it will make us happier and things will work out better but he continues to lie.

He has to earn your trust back>first of all, communication is the key.Talk to him and tell him that the lying hurts you and makes you feel as if you can't trust him. Also, ask him why he lies about such small things. Is it to protect your feelings..like money, smoking, etc???If so,tell him you'd rather be hurt by the things that are going on,so that you have an honest marriage and the lies hurt you so much more than the truth ever would.Good luck!!

I'm having a similar problem. I don't have an answer either. I guess what's important is are you happy? If you're miserable, then I don't think it's worth it. Do what your heart tells you is right. I agree that it is difficult to trust anything now. Sorry I wasn't much help. Good luck to you!

trust and respect are something earned not given.. .. People tell white lies all the time.. doesnt make it right and does destroy their credibility when needing to know the truth.. u can forgive him yes, but he has to earn the trust back..

If you are sure enough that he is lying to you, tell him on his face - or else wait until he cheats you. U r not suppose to be ignoring it.

Tell him you know he lies to you and don't blame you if you double check what he tells you.
