I will be having my second child when my son is 18 months... and the best parenting tips come from family members that have been there, and that you value their morals and how their children turned out. I think all these books make us too crazy. Your own instincts are the best guage. If you value yourself as a good judge, I would stick to your guts.
Just think... generations ago, there were no books on "what to expect when you're expecting" and the likes... don't you find that the current generation is spoiled, bratty, and unruly??
That's just my opinion... mother always knows best.

I don't remember the names of the books, but the authors are Jack Daniels and Jose Cuervo. *jk*
You'll have to do some research before you buy any books. There are a gizillion books out there with a gazillion different methods of parenting. Good luck to you...

Are you interested in children's books that deal with this topic that you can share with your son? Here is a link for an amazon.com search I did. Hope it works.
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_n_14/104-1562128-1009542?ie=UTF8&rh=n%3A1000%2Cn%3A4%2Cn%3A1084192%2Cn%3A1084218&page=1
Ok, if the link doesn't work, go to Amazon.com and in the browse column click on 'books', then 'all children's books', then 'issues' then 'new sibling'.
Obviously you don't have to buy them at amazon...but I have found this site to be awesome when it comes to generating lists of childrens books...at least you'll have authors and titles and check them out at the library or whatever.
Reading with your son about it will be a good way to begin discussions and help him understand what to expect.
Good luck and God bless.

what to expect books are great but when you need advice and a good laugh, read Girlfriends Guide to Toddlers or Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy, it had me laughing so hard i was in tears because it was the same crazy life i was going through

please go out and buy the books the first two people said. They are great and will save you lots of needless trips to the doc when the baby is sick. Also, great advice on everything from potty training to tantrums to normal growth, etc., etc......very great books and a bible for first time moms!!!!!
lots of info about sibling rivalry and those issues as well......

look hun....no good book can tell you how to raise your kids even if it is for a little help to understand how to manage......only you can decide what sort of routine you are goingt o put your kids into.....why don't you just go with it, in the end that might be the best option for you.....
good luck sweet.....=)
