Lord of the Rings is the most wonderful trilogy of all time, hands down. It was not only was it faithful to the books but incredibly moving. The second best trilogy may be the Evil Dead trilogy due to the sheer brilliance of Sam Raimi's B-movie wit.

Lord of the Rings! There's no question, even Hollywood agrees (RotK tied for the most Oscars won)and its based on one of the best books, much less book trilogies, and it stayed true to the books, where many movies have failed before.
