The Tigers don't need Abreu. What they need now to finish strong is a strong supporting pitching cast. They need some solid relief arms in the lineup if they are to go all the way

i know hes getting old and he only has 8 homers this year, but he steals bases, and plays great defense with a great arm---five tool player even as he ages. Now if the tigers have to part ways with joel zumaya or a zach miner--i'd say **** it. But a claven kinda prospect is fine ( certainly not a future star in curtis granderson either). If the price is too high I say to hell with it, because if you ask me the phillies should be happy enough to simply get him off the books in the first place never mind asking for a top prospect. By the way Andrew Miller was a steal at 6--that basically locks the tigers into contention for the next decade, b/c now they have bonderman, verlander, miller, hopefully they tyrade robertson, they have miner thats some great young arms. By the way they need a bat to beat the white sox, because lets face it marcus thames isn't exactly a starter if u ask me ---19 homers yes but hes a fluke.

Abreu is overated.. he's a good player but aslong as they don't have do over spend on him then they should. Man that would make the Tigers a dominating force in the AL.

No, the Tigers don't need anyone new. Abreu will probably either stay on the Phillies or become a Cardinal or a Yankee.

It would not hurt to make a run at Abreu the worst that he can do is say no but if he says yes we will go all the way.

hell no, they need a closer. mark my words, quote me please " the tigers will be the redsox of 2003. meaning, that the sox had no closer, game 7 see ya left field seats, wakefield bows his head.the tigers need a closer, i am out of my freakin mind trying to figure out why jones has gone on as long as he has with blind loyaltyfrom the manager.
This is why the tigers will need one more year to get it right, they have the arms, lack experience and their closer is a friggin wreck but come 2007 after the team aquires a stud closer and a year of playing together and getting to the alcs the year before then the tigers will win it all." they need a closer, not a bat, they should go after a solid closer or a dynamite set up man that can fill in and they can move zumya or rodney to the closer position, if not then read the above quote, see ya next year with a bonifide closer.

No. No. No.
NO WAY!
Although The Tigers do need a left handed bat in the line-up we do NOT need one that is so expensive.
I think The Tigers are fine....we have a good solid mix of veterans and youngsters. The chemistry is great, and we dont need to mix it up.
Although chemistry doesnt win ballgames (talent does), it does go a long way towards winning.

Abreu is washed up now. He would only hurt the team he goes to with that huge salary.

i dont think so abreu is washed-up,he cant hit HR anymore, does not hit 300-avg,is not known to be clutch,he has a big payroll.they should go after soriano,he is younger, better, for the same ammount fo money he has played under pressure,in(the bronx)he can handle it.
