Focus of who/what you are know because if you dont know that then you cant possible know what you want to do in the future. It is ok to make fanises of yourself once in a while but dont rap it around reality bad for your mental health.

It seems to me like who you are and where you intend to go in life are two different, though admittedly related, items. To the degree you can control it, it's defintely worthwhile to focus on how to become a person with values and abilities that you can respect in yourself. This will help you get where you want to be.

However, life's much more complicated than that. You'll go places you never meant to go, and some of them will be good and some of them will be bad. Most will be a little of both. All those places will alter the person you are, though, whether you like it or not: marriage, moves, schools, kids, unforeseen deaths, brilliant strokes of luck.

I feel as though I should cite Dr. Seuss's Oh, The Places You'll Go as a source for the above paragraph :-). Good luck on your trip.

I would focus on who you are now. If the future become your main focus, you are living in neither the present or the future. Go with the flow, it will take you somewhere!

Split the difference while slicing off a little to assess and appreciate where you've come from. Past influences present, present is always who you are assuming you are always in the present, and to get to a desired place in the future, you need an idea where it is you want to go.

Enjoy the journey!

Very good ambitious question.
Answer would be, It can not be considered with isolate. Both must blend together. If you do not know Where you are, it is hard to reach the destiny where you want to be. If you know exactly your current position, you can plan/think/do so that you can reach where you want to reach. If you only see the destiny, it is hard to find there because first of all you dont know your current capabilities. So blend of both can give you the answer

I guess there should be a fine balance of both. What you wanna be is what ll drive your day to day attitude and functionality. One cannot really forget the future and live in present alone, wherin you fail to move ahead. Neither can one think only about the future and keep dreaming, that he fails to do what he is supposed to do now (if he fails, then he would not move ahead in career and hence no future!) ..

You have to do both
Follow me here---without knowing who you are (what makes YOU---you ) you have no base with which to work
Without knowing where you are headed (where you want to go with your life) you have no destination to go to

So you must spend time on learning as much about yourself as possible---being somewhat analitical in what your strengths and weaknesses are and being honest about your present capabilities and the like-----then when you get the picture of where you want to go in life----by putting the two of these charts up against one another---you have a clear shot in front of you of what is going to have to be done to the present you to get to the future you

Why don't you want to be who you are?
Focus on making yourself a better person.
Take an honest look at yourself and change what you don't like.

Focus on who you would like to become.
You already are what you are.
If you costantly think about who or what you are now that is all you will ever be.

Now I'm confused. :)
