Antivirus does not stop adpopups. You must install and firewall /internet security. like norton firewall and norton internet secutiry.
Run live update and then run a full system scan. make sure your popup block is on.

Make Yahoo your homepage--they have a great pop up blocker --I've never had any trouble ---I even have pop up blocker with my firewall and anti-virus program but don't need to use it---yahoo's takes care of it all and best of all - it's free---good luck

If you are not using Firefox, then your problem will persist. Try installing the latest version and discontinue using IE and I'll bet you'll be much happier.
