If you are happy with Norton, I would stick with them. However, according to an article by the Washington Post, Norton Antivirus has one of the worst average response times for providing virus definition updates based on the worst virus outbreaks of 2005, lagging behind every major competitor, including Kaspersky, F-Secure, Sophos, AntiVir, Trend Micro, F-Prot, Panda, AVG, Avast, and McAfee.

For everyday viruses, according to an article by Eweek titled Why Is Symantec So Slow with Updates?, Symantec is the only vendor that provides virus definition updates on a weekly basis, as opposed to competitors such as McAfee that provides them on a daily basis or Sophos, Kaspersky or Panda that provide them several times a day.

However, Symantec does provide frequent beta and "Intelligent Updater" definitions in the form of manually downloadable 8-10MB packages (although impractical for daily use for even highly technical users) as well as daily updates for LiveUpdate Platinum customers such as large corporations and businesses.

For 2006 release customers, daily LiveUpdate definitions are apparently available. I would make sure that my service was as current as possible.

NOD32 and Kaspersky are large AntiVirus equipment to apply. McAfee is sweet with updating yet doesn't have the perfect detection prices. AVG's pay-for version is giant besides. those 4 are likely your ideal guess. And in case you do not have a minimum of two antispyware classes and a firewall i'd propose those: Anti-secret agent ware: secret agent ware Terminator + secret agent ware Blaster 4.a million OR Spybot S&D + secret agent ware Blaster 4.a million Firewall: Comodo professional OR free OR ZoneAlarm free Firewall

You can go to sbc.com and find the free services they offer and download and install them. It will prompt you to uninstall Norton. I did it when mine expired and have had no problems.

Your better off avoiding both! Viruses are made to target those programs specifically, your better off with Nod-32, or F-prot
