I had a conversation with a friend of mine. And she began to gossip about another mutual friend. So I politely told her that I did not want to her anything about someone if it was not positive. She became really mad at me. First off she is one of those friends who likes to focus on other people so she can avoid looking at herself. So when she began to talk about this mutual friend. I told her (politely) that I did not want to her about other people problems I wanted to know what was going on with her. She got mad at me and then all of a sudden she had something to do. My question is do you think that I was wrong for saying what I said? I feel like I did the right thing. But she thought that I was being rude.

Saying it was OK. She is on the phone Right now telling other people what kind of Bi344 you are any way. So looks like you need to do an upgrade on friends.

You absolutely did the right thing, I always think if it were me how would I want my friend to handle that situation? Don't fall into the gossip thing and you will have much better relationships with your true friends. This person sounds like she is the type that when she leaves you she has something bad to say about you also.

So again Bravo for being a true friend.

There's 2 things going on here....you embarrassed her by not participating in gossip with her. That's not wrong but she was probably surprised. The other thing is not to sound mean but who are you to help her look at herself? Nobody wants to be "fixed" unless they ask. She owes you an apology and you owe her one.

You did the right thing for all concerned. This girl sounds very insecure. She will not be a good friend to anyone until she deals with her own problems.

I feel like it was the right thing to do!!!! Shes probly just one of those girls who ALWAYS has to find something wrong w/ friends to make her feel better about herself..A lot of ppl are like that at one point or another..and will just get mad b/c they want everyone else to see the flaws about them too..I knwo i ahve been like htat......Just try and be understanding.and tell her you just want to stay away from the drama..and you dont wnat to be two faced......it may make them mad..but if so then they are just kind of selfish!?..
