After I had my 2001 impala for about 3 yrs. it started to cut out at high speeds. We had the fuel pump and some other stuff changed and it never quit. We got rid of it.

Possible blown head gasket, or the timing is off, which will cause the car to actually slow down when given more gas. Run a compression test on the cylinders, and leave the tester on for several seconds, and check for falling pressure reading.

need to know the year and eng size but go to the flows first look for exhaust flow first thats the one that seems most common then go to intake flow after that you need to hook up with a scope and check out the rest of the problems it might be if this is a newer cc car if it's a older car you can check the fuel press your self and the flow of fule but check the easy stuff first as it seems to always be there good luck JFB

I had two cars that did this, one had a weak fuel pump, the other needed a new catalytic converter.
They were BOTH Chevy's FYI

I would suspect the fuel pump. Late model GM's seem to have a lot of fuel pump failures.

Have the dealer check the computer. It has a speed limit setting. Also they can check the computer for codes that will help pin point the problem.
[I'm guessing it is a late model car.]
