I don't know anything about the Egyptian and Greek part of it. The Mayan & Aztec calendars are my speciality. And there's a lot of misunderstandings about them flying around.
First off, the Mayan Long Count calendar does NOT say the world is going to end in 2012. It says a new Baktun, the 13th, will begin on 12-21-2012 (a Baktun is 396 years long). Obviously the calendar itself isn't ending on that date either.
Astronomically, that morning there will be a grand alignment between the sun and the Milky Way at dawn, an alignment that only happens every 26,000 years. To the Maya, that alignment signifies the START of a new world age. As far as the end of THIS age, it's already over and has been for 10-15 years if not longer.
Read "Maya Cosmogenesis 2012" by John Major Jenkins for a lot more on this subject. Read my 2012 article on my Jaguar Nights blog or my regular website for other information on that day.

Not anymore than I'd consider a claim by Nostradamus. The world is going to end, I'll guarantee you that. When is not something that the human mind can comprehend or imagine. But, I can tell you one thing for certain. Anyone's dates or claims on a date or time are going to be false. Ellen G. White the prophetess of the Seventh Day Adventist movement, once made a claim on a date back in the 1800s when the world would end. Well, it's been done by plenty of people trying to get attention for themselves or their interesting beliefs. It could end now or tommorrow - don't plan for 2012 - plan for tommorrow.

12/12/12 (December 12, 2012) is a date on the Gregorian Calendar, not Greek, Egyptian, or Mayan.

it's possible that the world will end in 2012, but that's only if God decides that it should end then, no because the Egyptians, Greeks, and Mayans foretold it, cause no man knows the hour or the day when Jesus will come back

Nay, The Egyptians believed the world will be here until about the year 3989. The Mayans said in the hieroglyphs that they had left the earth in space crafts and would return in the year 2011.

The world IS going to end. Probably in 2012, maybe a little after, maybe tomorrow. Live each day for having no regrets, and try to enjoy it while it lasts. Help make people happy instead of sad, because very soon, you won't have them any more. That's life.
I find having a time limit like that helps me focuse, but it doesn't change who I am, only helps remind who I should be, and so I am that.

If every supposed ancient prediction and crackpot psychic's forecast about the end of the world is to be believed, it would have been all over long ago. Casting doom and gloom about the Armageddon has been done for centuries and gets sensationalized by the media every time there is a new political crisis or world-changing event. Oops, gotta go! Time to grab my "Repent" sign and head for the street corner.

If you believe the Bible the "End of the World" as we know it isn't that far off... Maybe the Mayans do have it right & it will end according to them on Christmas Eve 2012.
The Bible states that we dont know the exact time or date of the event.
Its left to each individual what they believe.

What I think is interesting is that the history channel did a program on Bible Codes. Bible Codes also have 2012 as the end of the world according to experts.
Pretty Scarey!!
