A few things to check:
1. Check if you have a DVD burner.
2. Is it installed properly w/ the correct drivers?
3. Do you have compatible _blank_ media (DVD+R? DVD-R)?
4. Is writing enabled? Check the properties.
5. Use the software that came w/ the drive or the computer (like Sonic, Nero, etc)?
You can look up support for the drive or the computer (if it came pre-installed). Good luck!

To burn avi records you downloaded you pick to detect a converter software that converts avi to dvd...the only incorrect way is to make a knowledge disc in spite of the indisputable fact that it is going to only be in a position to be study by technique of yet another pc. My chum gave me an entire disc of episodes in avi sort on a knowledge disc and the dvd participant stated it became an unreadable format... He informed me in case you pick to burn it to be study on a dvd participant you pick to remodel from avi to the dvd record format. He also works for Dell as a technician.

*IF* you're attempting to copy a COMMERCIAL DVD movie.... MOST are Copy Protected and you can't use a standard DVD burning program like NERO or EZ CD\DVD Creator.
Alot of people use DVD43
