And this has WHAT to do with television??
FYI: there are other categories other than television; or did you forget that?

You are missing two key elements when you tickle yourself - the element of surprise and the element of control.
If a friend or loved one tickled you when you were not expecting it, it would tickle you a lot more than you tryint to tickle yourself because your brain did not prepare you for being tickled or where you were going to be tickled.
If a friend or loved one restrained you and tickled you - you would have no control over where you were tickled, how long you were tickled, how fast or slow you were tickled, how gently or firmly you were tickled and what instruments you were tickled with (id fingernails, feathers, paint brushes, ice...)
When you tickle yourself, you control everything. There is no surprise as to where you are about to be tickled, how long you will be tickled or with what instrument you will tickle yourself. You will stop tickling yourself when YOU choose to stop.
When you are tickled by somebody else, they possess the element of surprise and the element of control. I only hope that when they tickle you - it is consensual and it is meant to be as fun for you as it is for them.
All the best to you!
PS. You said that everyone can tickle you except yourself - does this mean that I am invited to tickle you, too? ;o}

i read this somewhere
its cus u know that ur gonna tickle urself.
i know, a lot of others tickle u and u know it, right? but for some reason, ur body doesn't know that, it just knows that something else is tickling u. so basically, the brain knows ur being ticked, ur body doesnt. [while someone else is tickling u] and then, ur body definetly knows when ur tickling urself, so it ignores the feeling.

When you're touching yourself, your brain anticipated it and is not so ticklish. When you're being touched by someone or something else the brain doesn't anticipate is why we get that intense tickly feeling.
The next time you hear a mosquito fly around your ear, i bet you'll start feeling tickly. :O
