I don't understand why it is that people think its fine and dandy to abuse animals. They don't ask for much. They are here to love us, and people show them nothing. They neglect them, and hurt them. Does anyone else find this not right? I don't understand, perhaps someone can explain it to Me.

Because some people don't have hearts. Abuse whether its on animals or human is def not right and should be punished with the full extent of the law. Its not right to hurt something so innnocent and trusting of you. Its not everyday u get that pure innocence that can't be bought with any amount of money. Its sickness and cruelty that makes people abusers.
One way we can help this horridle reality is be nice to all animals we come in contact. If u can try and adopt an abused animal and rehabiltate. I did that with many animals. I usually give them to loving homes once they are back to a happy trusting self. But i have kept some of them. My sister and brother in law (thats whom i live with) kept two of the dogs we did taht with, and i kept a gerbil and a hamster also abused. I have had the hamster for three years and sadly is almost ready to pass the gerbil i have had for almost three years and he is in perfect and happy health. U can also write letters to ur senators and such to get tougher laws for such abuse. Good luck!

This is a very good question. Why? Well, you're going to end up with 100's of different explanations. One that I know of is how the person who is behaving this way was raised. Maybe they were abused, or seen their pets abused. Or, maybe they were just never taught the proper way to treat an animal. Good question.

because humans are the only animals (yes WE are animals too) that get pleasure out of hurting and/or abusing other creatures, whether that be humans, or animals.
we are a destructive, cruel, heartless species. there are not many of us that deserve a kind word, and it's a shame.
if only they could speak, but would we listen....i doubt it.

Because people talk back.
And every government recognizes the murder, beating, abuse or negligence of a person as wrong. There are exceptions but it's pretty standard.

I can't stand people who hurt animals. I think they do it because animals are smaller than them and they don't realize animals have feelings too.
