about 2 weeks ago, I kind of got my finger stuck in the car door, and it wasn't there long since the door was unlocked. I didn't tell my parents because they would freak out and stuff. and dont't tell me to tell them, just cuz im 12 doesn't mean they have to know this! anyways, nothing's broken at all, and everything seems normal. It's not even bruised. But It's really tender around the area where the door closed on, and it seems to be clearing up and all but I'm just making sure that this is all normal. I think It should be perfect by now.
PS
I don't think that this would matter but, it closed right on one of the joints. and it doesn't hurt when I move it. just when something touches the "affected" area or jabbs into it.

like QueenD said, if you're wandering what the question is, it's : "Is it normal for it to be tender like that?"

I've done that a couple of times, once when I was about your age. It's probably fine, especially since doors these days are light (I did it in the door of a 72 Olsmobile, so my thumb was purple and the nail fell off). As long as you have full motion, it will stop hurting soon.
Just don't stab at it. Unless you want it to hurt.

I've done this PLENTY of times. One time it even happened to me when the door had already been locked, but then it wouldn't unlock when my finger (actually, about 3 of my fingers...lol) was stuck in the door because it was in the way of the lock. So, needless to say, I had to yank almost my whole hand out from inbetween two doors while they were closed. Anyway, enough about my trauma! You're fine. As long as it's not painful to move it and it isn't too badly bruised, then there's no chance that it could be broken. Eventhough it closed right on one of the joints, it will be ok. Just be careful with it for the next couple of days so that you can make sure not to hurt it again. Good luck!

sorry kiddo but you should tell your parents, on the other had i just recently crushed 3 of my fingers between swinging doors. it took almost 3 week before it stop hurting. and it still bothers me when i hit it the wrong way or grab something to fast.. went to the doc cause it was work related and swelled the size of a lemon in no time. they did the xray and found it was alright, but the doc said it is a good thing to come to him because it could have messed up the knuckle and only an x ray can tell if it is really damaged or not. if it was a fracture it would have needed a splint and if it was just jammed it wouldn't need any thing but some time to heel, so my advice is to get an xray, cause you cannot see the damage it can cause you the rest of your life, if it is really messed up.

Okay, probably everybody is going to say to tell your parents, since you are 12. I did exactly the same thing you did, only my finger turned shades of green, purple, yellow and gray. If your finger didn't turn color, except for maybe get redder, you're probably okay. I broke mine, and all they did was put a splint on it. I had hurt another finger two weeks earlier, kinda like you, which they decided to x-ray, too, and that one was okay.
Now, for that freak out thing, it really is best, if you tell your parents about some injuries, because you are growing, especially if it involves any injuries around joints, because that's where your growth plates are located. I think they would freak out more, with a son who grew up with one leg 34" and one leg 36" long because he didn't want to tell them about an injury to his leg. Getting pants to fit would be a pain.
You could probably tell them now. I'm sure they won't freak out half as bad as you imagine.

You may have bruised the bone, have a hairline fracture, suffered soft tissue damage or aggravated a nerve--regardless, keep an eye out for discoloration, such as the tip of your finger turning blue, dusky, or black, which would indicate a blood supply problem! I'm not sure what your hesistation is, but a 30 minute trip to the family physician and an x-ray can rule out a lot of things my young friend....

If it is still hurting after 2 weeks, it could be broken. You can't see the bones inside your finger. Your bone may have a tiny break in it. Only an x-ray can see the bones, and only a doctor can do an x-ray.
You should tell your parents. It was an accident, so they shouldn't be mad at you. But they might be mad if you wait a long time and it is a permanent problem.
You should tell them and go see a doctor.

Be sure to go to the doctor, even if it seems ok, theres a possibility its not. I once got hit by a ball and I lost some functionality in my finger. I did not notice until some months later when i was playing the guitar i had lost some movement and never recovered that ability
Once again my advice is, go to the doctor.

Yes, it's normal to be tender when you slam fingers in doors. What's not normal is hiding it from your parents.

Okay, so then what's your question? It seems like you're just wanting to tell someone. If that's the case, then I'm sorry you hurt yourself, I'm sure it hurt like crazy, and I'm glad it's healing.
