Seems like the decision isn't always just about whether or not to have the baby anymore.

Some people want a baby but are deciding whether to abort and start over based on the baby's sex, hair color, eye color, etc.

I don't think that it's a product of Pro Choice, but a product of parents who are self absorbed and ignorant. Designing your baby puts conditions on the child and if you can;t love your child unconditionally, you shouyldn't have one!

Actually, humans (as well as most animals) have been engaged in designing offspring for generations. Everytime we make a choice about our mate, we are engaging in selective breeding. Should we be able to modify (say with genetic correction) our offspring in utero to eliminate hereditary disease or birth abnormalities, many tragic situations would be avoided.

As to choosing purely cosmetic factors, who cares? Are anti-choice zealots really that controlling? If I can flip a switch to make my child's hair black instead of blonde, why should anyone be able to stop me? What if I want to dress it in denim? Should that be forbidden?

Now aborting to achieve superficial goals is absurd and not present anywhere outside of a Nazi fantasy as far as I know and seems to be a question like "Are murders a product of Pro-Life?". It's a ridiculous question.

too bad you can't determine things like mental retardation, potential psychological problems, heredity issues. Designer babies are a joke it take the fun out of creating one yourself. What's next physical sex is outlawed, damn the man.

Have you seen the movie "Gepetto?" There's a guy in it that will make kids with his coolio machine to exact specifications (they're not babies, though- more elementary school aged). It's interesting. But in real life, scary.

I'd say that if they aren't a product of it, they have at least been encouraged by the Pro-Choice movement.

When will humans realize we aren't God? Who are we to try to 'design' a human being??

people just want to see how well they can "play God". chances are things will backfire eventually.

i don't think it is right to tamper with a natural miracle like childbirth, even if it is supposedly for the better. if we rule out all disease and let people choose the sex they want, we will eventually be overrun by a single gender. overpopulation will destroy us..think about it.

and this is based on what facts? I don't know of any doctor that would preform the necessary operation based on that criteria. Sounds like pro-life antagonistic rhetoric to me.
