I notice in a lot of African, South Asian, and Latino countires, that there is a strong preferance for lighter skin tones. Why is this still happening to us.

I think all skin color is beautiful i wish some people would stop bothering people because they are too light or too dark.

Why should color matter?If you love someone you dont love them for the color of there skin.

Well, in Latin America, the richest people are those who are of direct European descent. The whiter you are, the richer you are (generally speaking). It's nothing new; it's been like that since the 1500s.
The thing that ticks me off sometimes is when people (particularly in the States) assume that people from Latin America are all of single colour and descent. That nullifies the varied genetic stock of the area, which is a mix of: a myriad of Amerindians, various African strains, several European peoples (Spaniards, Portuguese, Italians, Germans, French, Dutch,etc) and even some Middle Eastern and Asian groups. To clump this motley assortment of folks under a single tag is just silly.

Hmmmm....jealousy is a huge factor of this, some want lighter skin, and others want darker skin. It's all based on what people are attracted to, this doesn't have anything to do with racism it's all about hormones, and how attractive a person is with their skin tone.
And some people need to actually answer the question rather than shifting around it.

or Telemundo would have small mexicans on TV like in USA on the street it doesn't matter what skin color if you are really sexy you got it.

its just that skin colour has been an issue for many years and people discriminate in their own races bcuz it has become part of their psyche that those of lighter skin colour will get ahead and preferences are always shown to them. ...quite frankly it astounds me too.

It's called"COLOR STRUCK".Unfortunately it's been a factor for a long time.It will continue to be a factor as long as we/they subscribe to a" white man's vision of beauty".

as nice as it is to try to think that 'skin doesnt matter' , it truly does. howevr , it sholdnt matter as much as it does.
but it DOES.
