I would rather listen to hip hop (gag, choke, cough, sputter) than rap witch has not sense in it at all. I am not entirely sure why it is even called music since there is nothing in it whatsoever that has to do with music. I love harmony, a good voice, and the blending of instruments whether it be by a symphony or a rock band, but it is getting harder and harder to find. Now it is all this garbage with rap and hip hop with nothing but trash and whining for lyrics. Sad..when the older bands stop playing, we won't have music left. Good question!!

I'm from the era when rap began...In the early 70's with the Sugar Hill Gang...Hip-Hop as they call it now is not the music but is the culture. People dress Hip-Hop they don't dress Rap.People emulate what rappers look like not always what they say. When I hear a rapper talk about the ghetto from whence he came from and then the cash.cars, jewelry for which he now has he is telling a story about his life. The problem with that is what?. Music is music you like some you love some you hate some but it all comes down to your preference. If every one liked everything what a dull world we would live in.

Everybody's entitled to their own opinion. Some people like it! That doesn't mean u have to! But to be honest, Hip Hop and Rap aren't the only genres of music that talk about sex and drugs. Rock songs do too! Everybody keeps talking about how they just like the beat but if you find the right artist then the lyrics can be just as good! Wyclef Jean, Lauryn Hill, Common, etc.

The only reason I like hip-hop music is the beat. IF you take all the words out and just leave the music, I would love it equally if not more!!!!! Rap on the other hand is supposed to be called Crap...this I agree.

You obviously haven't heard much of a variety of rap/ hip hop. Show me a country song you can go to the club n dance to and not be line dancing and actually be doing your own thing and not looked at like your stupid. Its got rhythm to it it sounds good on a set of 15s in my trunk. Some of it I can relate to (and guess what those songs dont talk about sex and drugs!!)All of it makes no sense to you bc you haven't really listened to it. I guarantee I could find a song youd like. Someone I used to date thought the same thing you did guess what I prooved him wrong too found stuff he liked and continues to listen to.Even if you don't like it fine quit trashin it!I don't know what kind of music you like but how many other types do u see people puttin down and makin assumptions??

To each his own. I was into hip-hop long before it became so mainstream. I personally can't stand hard rock music and don't get the appeal either. Different strokes for different folks. Hip hop is what makes me want to shake my rump. It de-stresses me after a sucky day at work. I love it!

I am a 53 year old white male. I don't get it. Of course it is not directed to me. My parents didn't understand Rock and Roll. Their parents didn't understand Swing Music. I am sure there is evidence of ancient civilizations not understanding their young children banging on the drum, "that way". Music is what's make us human.
