I'm white first of all, and just answered a question concerning this matter. It was about racism and a black person said black people are more racist than white people. I said that I apologize for that shi* my people did to blacks back around the slave days. Do you still hate the modern white people for what our people did to your people back then?

After reading a few answers.... See I think this is a problem we have, all races assume the other is racist before actually getting to know them, but once you get to know anyone of any race, you find out that most people aren't racist anymore. I mean there still are a good bit of white and blacks who are. But even those people aren't bad once you get to know them.

i am more mad at my own people (africa) for ever trading my ancestors away than i am at white people 200 years ago for doing what any race in there situation would have done at the time. for the blacks that are still mad its not there faults there brainwashed from the jewish media since day 1 to hate white people and never let the whole slavery thing. About 3/4 of america wanted no slavery anyway back then so that was only 1/4 that wanted it so no way am i mad.

The modern white person is not hated for what his white ancestors did; the modern white person is hated for what he is CURRENTLY doing today to people of color. The white person of today still hates and discriminate based on color. The modern white person still treats blacks as third class citizens. The modern white person still wants blacks to disappear. The modern white person continues to be racist.
I know that not all whites fit into that description. I know that not all whites are racist and not all blacks loathe whites. But, if you want to know why some blacks hate whites, it’s because those blacks are still mistreated by some whites even after all of these years past slavery. The type of hatred that was taught during times of slavery has passed down the generations and is still present today.

"Man up" more or less is like saying, just be a man. Anyway, anyone who is angry about that now is crazy, because there are very few people who were ever African slaves, and those who were, are too old to be mad because they need to have their hearts right to get into heaven! However, it is an ugly part of our history, the thought of seeing ANYONE enslaved is disturbing. Although, there is the saying that everything happens for a reason, and even though it was a devestating era for Blacks, there was a reason for slavery. Life is too short to hate, especially when Africa is going through the turmoil it's going through, honestly, doesn't anyone really want to go to Africa right now? Not me!

As the times change, we must change with them. Racism is an old issue. (generally speaking) We have new stuff to worry about in this millenium.
As an African-American, I personally don't feel a threat in this country. I mean, I make my own life. I am responsible for my own personal success and upward mobility. If I make a mistake, I can't blame the "man." That's just simply not an excuse anymore.
Also, I don't feel any animosity towards anyone of any other race. We're simply all human beings doing the best we can.

I had a black gentleman bring up a point about a display in my building I work at calling it offensive. It was a civil war display part of a history of war display, and because it had a picture of the Confederate Battle Flag, he said it was offensive. The local EEO office said it was ok to have up when I called them, and he responded to me after hearing that, "It was probably a white man who said that.", when it fact it was a black man. In short no matter what color you are, you can be racist. I personally think the slavery issue should be dead, it is in the past, but it is history and we should be aware of it, so as to never repeat it.

Slavery is in the past. I have nothing to be truely mad about. I think it was a tough road for my ancestors and I'm glad they found a way to survive it. It wasn't fair or right. It hurts sometimes to watch movies about it like Amistad or Rosewood. But it happened long before me. I think about how proud I should be to live in a time where I have so many oppertunitys and most people I come in contact with respect me as a woman, not a black woman.

I am not Black, nor am I White, I disapprove of Slavery at that period of time, I do not really hate them because they did not know any better.
I do hate the present day animals that still have the ignorance mind set, whether Black or White or Green.

I don't blame white people for what happen. you just can point the finger like oh you did this. i wasn't really tought about slavery in school the main focus in school was about the trojen war and persidents. I just wish that people would understand that this did happen to our ancestors and that it's wrong to judge by the color of our skin. Some blacks are actually wonderful people if anyone didn't know.

I think it depends on a persons environment. yesterday I was on a bus in Brooklyn. It was very crowded and most of the passengers were Black. There was a white child about 5 years old who was crying because he wanted to sit down. no one even acknowledged the boy's discomfort even though he was begging his mother to find him a seat. his mother, carryng heavy packages tried to comfort her son, but couldn't do anything.
Yet, if the same thing occurred in a different town where people's lives aren't so ugly, the little boy would have had his choice of seats.

I can't be angry with modern day White Americans for what colonial era slave owners did to my ancestors.
What I CAN be angry about is when white people today disrepect me because I am black. They see the color of my skin and make assumptions about me before they know me.
If only I had $1 for every time I had a phone conversation with someone before we met - only to have them meet me face to face and unwittingly say "you don't sound black".
For the record... I'm not African-American... I am All-American... I was born in one of this nation's hospitals, educated in its schools. I've served in its military and fought in her defense.
Only when we can stop seeing each other as various skin-tones and see each other as countrymen can we finally rise above the discord that has plagued this nation for so long.
