Regardless what you say, it will hurt him. Rejection always hurts. He must really like you if he got up the courage to tell you. I would tell him that you Cherish the friendship that you have and you are not ready to change the relationship at this point. You do not know when or if you will ever be ready, but friends is all you can offer now. On another note. If you do not want to hurt him, and you do not have a boyfriend. DO not tell him you want to stay single, then go out with someone else. This will scar him for life.

No matter what you say, it's going to hurt him. All you can do is decrease the intensity. Tell him he's a great friend, but that's all you see it being. Sure it's a signature line, but if it's how you feel then tell them.

Tell him you adore him as a friend, anything more could put your friendship in jeopardy. Its a nice way to put a girl or guy down without losing your friendship.

first of all, he doesnt love you. he might like you or be attracted to you, but he dont love you. just be up frot with him. dont run around the bush. i have been the one treated like that and it sucks. it will be far less painful for him if you just tell him. dont tell him that he is too nice. dont tell him that you just want to be friends, because if you do it will hurt a lot worse. just tell him that your sorry, you dont think it will work because... it is going to be awkward but his pain will go away much quicker. if you do that then dont go run off to date someone else or it will be worse. give it time. trust me i have been that guy plenty of times

Not interested in anything but a friendship. Because you matter to much to me. (Then give him a hug!)
