When I turn on my computer I get the error message, “Processor Fan Not Detected” Does anyone know where I can buy a replacement fan to install in a Dell Dimension 4400 Desktop computer and where I can find directions for installing it? Thanks so much!!

First, unplug the computer and remove the side of the case so you can see the CPU fan. Plug the computer back in and verify that the fan is, or is not running. If the fan is NOT running, shut the computer off. Next, determine what type of processor you have (Intel or AMD). This will determine the type of fan you will need. Unplug the computer again, and unplug the fan from the mobo then remove the old fan. Clean the thermal grease off of the processor with "contact cleaner" or Arctic silver's processor cleaner. Then go to newegg.com and order the appropriate fan for your processor. Also buy some "Arctic Silver" ceramic thermal grease in the smallest amount. You will only need a BB sized amount on the processor when you mate the fan to the processor.
