It could be any of the above, it might just be exploring getting exersize, it is also possible that it wants to be held or is hungry, it could be tring to escape, but if it is trying to escape don't take it personally, it probably still loves you it would just rather love you from outside of the cage then from inside it.

My honest answer for this is, no matter how tame a snake is, they are still a wild animal, plain and simple. What he's doing is looking for a way out. They don't know anything about being held, these are not little humans. If you notice when you put a bug in a jar, it's always trying to climb to the top, to get out. Same with a snake.

Just like people have said, baby snakes both love to climb and to escape/explore. They're kind of hard-wired that way. You can provide more cage furniture and things to climb, which might help a little.
I've noticed, though, that older snakes seem to associate people with positive experiences -- that is, with getting out of the tank for a stretch or swim, or with getting fed. I have one that seems to happily climb out of her tank and into my hands whenever her lid is opened, otherwise she seems content stretched out along the bottom. I'm probably anthropormorphising too much. ;)

Most snakes like to climb, so place something in the cage for them to climb on. Most likely, though, your snake is searching for a way to escape, so make sure the lid is secure unless you like playing hide & seek with an expert.

The only thing this tamed snake is being taught is that the top comes off this enclosure and that is the only way out because it's the only way things come in. In time it will figure it out.

it doesn't take a snake very long to figure out its trapped, and all things will seek a way out, no matter how happy they are or how often they're fed. It's instinctive. Just because she CAN live in a glass tank doesn't mean she wants to.
