I suggest we do something, she has to clean her room. After the movies, I say, "We should have a sleepover!" and she says something about how she doesn't have her stuff and her room is messy and.... and and and. I don't see why she would do ANYTHING with me when she is so obviously trying so hard to avoid me. The question is, why is she like this? Anyone ever have a friend like that before?

I think she is probably one of these control freak people who has to be the one to initiate the idea. I've had friends like this too. Your friend will go to the movies with you, but not the sleepover. It's because it's not her idea and she needs to be in control.

I've had a friend like that before.
It could be one of two things:
Either she really doesnt want to clean her room, even if it means you guiys cant hang out. OR:

Like you said she is avoiding you.
What you do with a friend like that, is what they want, which is to not be your friend. Friends need to be there for you and enjoy your company and make you laugh. If this person doesnt even want to have a sleepover she doesnt value your friendship and in the end will only cause fights and unecessary stress for you. If your friend doesnt feel she needs your friendship then she doesnt deserve it.
Now I realize its gotta be hard to just end a friendship with someone, so before you jump to conclusions talk to your friend and see whats up, if she has a good reason, then maybe she is just stressed out and needs space or whatever. If she apologises and says she will chagne then give her a chance. If she does, great, if not, well, then you should realize that she is not a true friend. Either way, if it is gonna cause you problems later on, stop that now.

There are a lot of people that don't like spending the night away from home.. specially younger people who still live at home with her parents.. if she didn't' want to hang out with you then she wouldn't be going to the movies with you.. next time you ask and she says that to you.. just bring it up and get her to talk about it.. Maybe she wets the bed..lol.. I doubt it but I am sure there is some insecurity she has about being away from home and she is embarrassed..

Obviously this so called friend is trying to avoid you. Could it be that she just doesn't want to be around you b/c you did something to her or she must have did something that she doesn't want you to find out about. She could be feeling very guilty. I think I would sit down and have a talk about it, let her know how you feel especially if you consider her your friend.
