Why have people in the world become such jerks?

Have you noticed how spoiled and demanding people are now? If they can't get what they want (even if they didn't pay for it, or deserve it) they throw tantrums like children. Curious to hear any theories about why it is people are increasingly becoming more and more pretentious, snotty, condescending, and ungrateful.

I'm not certain of what your beliefs are, but as a Christian and a conservative, i can offer two insights.

Much of western society has become very Liberal in their thinking to the point of not giving their children good values and guidelines in their upbringing (I have two daughters, ages 19 and 25).

We have become indulgent to our children and have often let others raise our children because both parents worked.

From a Christian perspective, the Bible prophesied about how people would become: 2 Tim 3:2-4 "For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God."

It was only a generation or ago that youth respected authority and adults. It's a said statement as to how we have chosen to raise our children.

The gene pool has gone down the pooper. I have never seen such stupid people in my life and they are only increasing. It used to be you would only run into an idiot about once a day, now you're luck if you can find an intelligent person once a day. The scary part of it is, they are all hanging out together telling each other they are really smart and deserve more than the rest so becoming not only stupid, but arrogant and greedy too. And some of these ignoramuses carry guns now. EEEEEKKKKK!!! Too greedy, too stupid, and armed, and they are breeding too? What is in store for the world in 20 years at this rate? And everyone is worried about our need for oil. If this keeps up, there will be no one of value to run the country, let alone figure out what the country actually needs!! Good question!!

Because we're taught through popular media, and public school systems that we've got nothing to live for (reproduce, then die), that the pursuit of happiness has to do with the acquisition of material things, and that whatever you think is right to you, is right for everyone and that it has to be accepted, otherwise, if people don't accept you, you might lose self-esteem.

So essentially, because we've abandoned the belief that there is and should be a moral framework set into existence and conformed to be the people as a basis for all things, we've become exactly what we've been trained to become.

We are slaves of what we want.

Parents don't give their children proper guidance. Also, we live in America, the richest country. So we've become a bunch of rich, spoiled kids. And then it grows worse with each generation.

Too much stress, too much work, too much pain, too many lies, and not enough love. I could go on and on about all the other stuff thats wrong but that would take me like hours. And yes i totally agree with you...people get more and more bitter everyday.

I don't think people have changed much... they've probably been like this forever.

(Interesting how we seem to be referring to "people" as though we are not part of that group. Hmmm. I guess "we" are the nice ones.)

Well they are spoiled or they think they are better than everybody. Or have to have more stuff than everybody.Cause they judge to quickly too.

A huge percentage of people are dumb, ignorant, and intollerant. They are lazy, self-centered, and dumba**es.
