If you like racing, get NFS:Underground 2/ NFS:Most Wanted. They are like the best when it comes to racing. Formula 1 is good if you like those karts. Gran Turismo is also pretty good but doesn't venture out where NFS does.
Other than that, Grand Theft Auto is good if you are okay with drugs, gangster dealings and other illegal stuff. It is definitely the best non racing driving game. The cops and everything just bring it alive. I don't about any other GTA version, but GTA Vice City does offer racing in it too.

Need for Speed Under Ground 2. It is AWESOME!!!! you get to race people to earn money and you can use the money to totally pimp out your car. Wicked Game!!!

i liked midnight club dub edition cuz you can fix your cars up and the races are fun
