You shouldn't have put the bumper pads *in* in the first place. For a young baby, they're a possible suffocation hazard, and for an older baby, they're a temptation to climb.

My doctor told me to take the bumper pads out when my daughter could pull herself to standing and might use the bumpers as a way out of the crib!

As soon as the baby is able to pull to standing position and may use it to climb out. Also many people have the bumper pad touching the crib mattress when it shoule be about an inch up so if he/she gets against it he can still breath .

My son will be 1 in two weeks and the bumpers are still there. He rolls around alot and bangs his head everywhere. I think as long as the bumpers are not very fluffy, and tied properly to the slats, you should be fine. Be careful when he starts standing in the crib though. Babies use the bumpers to step on and pull themselves up further in the crib (though mine hasn't gotten that creative yet).

From what I have heard most people are saying there is no need to use bumper pads any more so you can take them out at anytime. You can also buy a thing at walmart, target, or babies r us to help prevent the baby from rolling over.

I have never taken the bumper pads out simply because my daughter(20 months) has gotten her feet stuck in the bars before, even with the pads.

My daughter is 6 months old and has been rolling over since 10 weeks. I have not removed the bumper pads and do not intend to. Just a personal opinion, but if your baby is strong enough to roll over, then he is strong enough to turn his head to breath if necessary. I would think that it would have been more of a concern BEFORE he could roll over since he would not have been able to get away from them if need be. If you are truly concerned, I would talk to your pediatrician.

You should definately take the bumper pad out. It can lead to suffocation if the baby rolls to near to it . Thatis were sids comes in and takes place because when a baby is sleeping and their face is against something, they don't know to move their heads to get oxygen. GOOD LUCK TOYOU.MORE PPL SHOULD ASK QUESTIONS LIKE THIS THERE IS NEVER A STUPID QUESTION WHEN IT COMES TO BABIES, ONLY THE ONES WE DON'T ASK

I thought that was the whole reason for bumper pads? so they don't bump the hard rails?

Keep them in. You should have an occilating fan in the room anyway to keep cirrculation.
