Being born in Virgina when it was a British colony, he was technically born British to British parents on what was to be to be American soil later on. When what we know as America was formed he became an American citizen as all who chose to living here did at that time. Being born on the American soil en titled him to be a full and not an immigrant American

simply by virtue of his founding america he is american. although i suspect that prior to that he held british citizenship.
